Bed base

The bed base is literally and figuratively the foundation for a good night’s sleep. Good support, the right height for getting in and out of bed, springiness: these are all factors that play a role in choosing a bed base and so determine the character of your bed.

Why choose a mesh base?

A mesh base is 80% open which means it is extremely well ventilated. This is not only good from a hygiene point of view, it also helps your mattress to last longer. And what is more, a mesh base provides support over every centimetre and always returns to its original position when pressure is removed.

Getting in and out of bed

The ease with which you get in and out of bed is determined by the height of the bed (that is to say, the height of the bed base) Generally speaking, the ideal height is when the top of the mattress is at knee height or a little higher.

Adjustability

Some beds allow you to sit as well as lie down. It is important that the leg section is adjustable in addition to the backrest section to prevent you from slowly sliding down the bed. An adjustable bed is also easier to make up, and is easier to clean around.

Shock absorption

Some bed bases are more bouncy than others. Try out the bounciness of different bed bases to see which you prefer.
